Enraged

Someone burnt a hole in my scooter seat cover with a cigarette today. Why would anyone want to do such a thing? What a bunch of sadistic morons with nothing better to do in life. This is the sort of stuff that really gets on my nerves. ‘Cause there is nothing I can do about it.

<lots of expletives>

Long time no see

I know I have abandoned this blog for a while now. Been pretty involved with stuff, so couldn’t find enough time to pen down anything. Most of all, I wanted to write about my Kodai trek and my trip to Mumbai. Will probably do that some day soon. I have also made two trips to home (Hyd), one to Tirupathi, attended weddings, wedding receptions and house-warmings of friends and family. Been watching Desperate Housewives (I know I am cheap :-D ) for a few weeks. 41 out of 72 episodes down. Reading this crazily funny book called “Barrister Parvateesam” by M. Narasimha Sastry.

So now you know what I have been busy with :-D

Anyway, this is what happened yesterday …
I posted a few pics of me in a saree from one of the weddings that I attended recently. I made the photos “Friends only”, but it turned out I don’t have nice friends …

(11:22:43) Srivani: check out my flickr to see some pics of srivani auntie
(11:22:44) Srivani: :D
…….. After seeing the pics
(11:28:46) Sudhir: aiyyoooo
(11:30:50) Srivani: whatever happened to plain old “you look nice” compliments??????
(11:31:52) Sudhir: aiyoooooooo
(11:32:44) Srivani: :-( (

Jaan-e-mann

Starring Salmaan Khan, Akshay kumar and Preity

Most fun movie I have watched since “Malamaal Weekly”. The movie was HILARIOUS. There is a bit of senti stuff too, but it hardly ever gets heavy. Now this is called Entertainment!

Do watch it if you haven’t yet already. I assure you, it’ll be fun.

Gunaahon ka devata

Novel by Dharmveer Bharathi
The language of a book, in my opinion, influences the way you look at the characters, the plot, the conflicts etc. a lot. Hindi is any day closer to my sensibility than English. I realized that while reading a Hindi novel, I am a lot more sensitive, a lot more conforming, a lot more accomodating than I am when I read an English one.

“Gunahon ka devata” was written in the 1970s, if I am not mistaken. One of the classics in Hindi literature. I should say, the book is pretty progressive for its age. Conflicts in relationships is the central theme of the book. It raises a lot of questions and attempts to answer some. I might not agree with the author completely, but its nevertheless nice to know that others go through the same things you do.

But that is all I am willing to talk about here. Read the book to know more :-p

Crazy!

Okay, normally, I am not the kind who would go anywhere near writing hacks. However, for the past few days I have had this itch to write a script that would help me post directly from Yahoo! Photos to Flickr.

While I was at it, one thing led to another, and finally decided to setup DynDNS on my modem yesterday. Was successful and was quite happy about it. Just when I was revelling in my humble entry into geek-dom (if that!), I happened to read this blog entry of a fellow yahoo. And I thought, “Now, that’s a geek! A really crazy one at that.”.

Flash for Firefox on Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 64bit

I had been trying to install the flash plugin for sometime now. Tried a number of things, nothing went through. Was wondering what could be wrong. At last it struck me that I own a 64bit machine now and there lies the deamon. I guess, I did not yet get used to the fact that I am 64bit now. :-)

Anyway, the process is pretty straight-forward. This post helped me out. Enjoy!

Jab dekhne waala koi nahin …

Jab dekhne waala koi nahin
jal jaaye to kya, bujh jaaye to kya ||

Got my wisdom tooth pulled out. :-( (

Update:

That wasn’t me, that was my self-pity speaking. I have the best room-mate and sweetest friends.

Madhushala

Anytime I read this poem, I can find atleast one stanza that I can relate with at that moment. Here’s another one of my favorites.

Prapya nahin hai to, ho jaati
lupt nahin phir kyun haala,
Prapya nahin hai to, ho jaata
lupta nahin phir kyun pyaala;
Door na itni, himmat haaroon,
Paas na itni, paa jaaoon;
Vyarth mujhe daudaati maru mein,
Mrigjal bankar madhushala |

Wish you all a very Happy New Year!

I would like to take a moment here and thank all my friends who have seen me through the past year and were there for me and my family in good times and bad. Thanks you guys.

So no one told you life was gonna be this way
Your job’s a joke, you’re broke, your love life’s D.O.A.
It’s like you’re always stuck in second gear
When it hasn’t been your day, your week, your month, or even your year, but

I’ll be there for you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I’ll be there for you
(Like I’ve been there before)
I’ll be there for you
(‘Cause you’re there for me too)
